Rare Genius: The Blogs I Read

I realize that if you've ever seen my blogger profile, you know that I follow tons of blogs.  If someone makes an effort to reach out to me, I show them appreciation.  If I read something that I find interesting, I show them appreciation.  If I see a creative person trying to make it, I show them appreciation.

But there are a few blogs that, in my mind, go above and beyond.  I find myself checking them daily for new posts.  I am in tune with the minds of the creators of these wonderful places, often much needed distractions from my monotonous day.  They are trend-setters.  They are trailblazers.  They are creatively brilliant in their own unique way.  These are the rare geniuses.  And from me, they get much love.  If possible, you should follow.

Silk, Honey, and Moonbeams

Tzynya Pinchback is by far one of my favorite writers.  The Atlanta, GA poet, author, and self proclaimed "Hussy" keeps inspiring me with her wit, her words, and her uncanny ability to wow the reader with imagery.  My suggestion:  Start in April of 2009 and read this blog straight through.  You'll be happy you did.

Morgarruya

Morgan Farruya's blog seems to be a constant source of inspiration and reposts, simply because she is just that awesome.  She ranges from insightful to funny to just cool as shit, all in one package.  And then she takes a picture, and you're speechless all over again.  Another read straight through blog.  Check her out.

Brunettes Make Better Psychos

I am one of those people that love to pry inside the minds of others.  I'd read journals and diaries for a living, just to understand what makes people tick.  Madelyn's blog presents her thoughts fully.  And it doesn't seem so psycho to me.

To Skate on Sun

Have I told you enough times that Ka'Mone Felix is a genius?  If I haven't, guess what:  she's a freakin' genius.  You'll find yourself reading the simple quotes, the amazing poems, and viewing countless pictures, engrossed in the mind of someone who you can say gets it.  Plus, the music is too cool.  Her blog is the reason that I gave Tumblr's cluttered look a second chance.

Single Dad Laughing

Dan Pearce.  I say that you have to read this blog to understand.  He is my inspiration as a single father.  Many days, his blog helped me see the big picture, as well as appreciate all the little ones.  Whether you're a single dad or not, if you're human, this blog will touch you.

SusuanaLoves You :)

Photography, music, and a peek into personal journeys, plus the beautiful commentary of one of the most compassionate spirits I've ever encountered.  Susuana loves you, for real!!  And you'll take that from reading this blog.

1000 Awesome Things

Just a delightful viewing of all the things that make up the purely awesome.  I loved going back to #1000 and looking at each post.  Such an inspiring and wonderfully interesting blog.

C. Hope Clark

This woman has been a godsend!!!  Published mystery writer and editor of a web magazine designed to locate funds for established and aspiring writers, Mrs. Clark continues to dedicate her efforts to motivating, informing, and helping writers.  Much love goes out to her!!!

photo passage

There are some people whose beautiful spirits just emanate from the things that they do.  Jasmine C. Umenyi is one of these people.  I love how her photos all tell a personal story, and she takes the time to learn these stories.  This is where strangers become ex-strangers.  It says this a lot beneath her photos, and from taking a glimpse into her world, I feel this exact sentiment.

Soul Aperture

Christina's photos are full of comfort, as the images and her words help pull you into a world that tastes good, smells good, feels good....kind of like home.  An excellent blog to view when you just need an escape.  You get this sense that visiting her home would be a much needed, and much enjoyed, escape as well.

Chookooloonks

If you don't know who Karen Walrond is, please Google her!!!  When I say this woman is amazing, I do so with a capital A.  From stunning photography to superb writing to an insight about life that makes you take notice, you'll see what takes me back to this blog time and time again.

A few more will be added, but for now, in order to finish this page, I'll leave the list like this.

Much love to the creators of all of these blogs.  May you continue to entertain, enlighten, and inspire me and the rest of the world.
