At 40 to 1 Odds, I'm Looking At.....(Another NFL Recap)

Hello to all my rare football fans, glad to have you back.  So I went into Week 12 of the NFL season with a 7-8 record.  I imagine that for you Dallas Cowboy fans, 7-8 doesn't sound so bad.  But anyway....if you missed my predictions for this week, you can check them out here:

Super Sundays: Week 12 Edition

So, how did things really turn out?

Feature Games:

Green Bay at Atlanta  17-20
I mean did I call this thing or what?  It was a back and forth game all day, and while Aaron Rodger's performed spectacularly, inability for the Pack to put points on the board caused their downfall.  Matt Ryan will just smile, knowing that he's 19-1 at home in his career.

Jacksonville at NY Giants  20-24
Talk about giving it away.  The Jaguars dominated this game for an entire half, with MJD moving the Giants defensive line at will.  Then the whistle blew for the third quarter, and a complete collapse occured.

Philadelphia at Chicago  26-31
When you see this score, you might think that two stellar defenses took a game off.  But if you saw the game, you'd know the truth.  And quite frankly Chicago's defense is the truth.  It was 31-13 at the start of the fourth quarter.  Vick had already thrown his first interception of the season, and it looked like lights out for the Eagles.  But number 7 had a little more magic left in him, to nearly bring the flock storming back. A late onside kick recovered by Chicago solidified them as an NFC powerhouse.

Tampa Bay at Baltimore  10-17
Well, Tampa earned a bit more respect from me defensively, but this was looking like a beat down in the making from the start.  Baltimore got the job done, but it was a lot harder than expected.  Should make that match-up with Pittsburgh next week a lot more interesting.

San Diego at Indianapolis  36-14
In a game where Phillip Rivers put up less than 200 yds and didn't throw a touchdown pass, you'd expect this score to be reversed.  But the Colts apparently told Peyton to do his best Eli impersonation, as the elder Manning threw 4 picks in this game.  Could this be the beginning of a downward spiral?

The Extras

Steelers at Bills    16-13
Panthers at Browns   23-24
Vikings at Redskins  17-14
Titans at Texans      0-20
Dolphins at Raiders  17-33
Chiefs at Seahawks   24-42
Rams at Broncos      36-33
49ers at Cardinals   27-6

So, my record for Week 12?   Well, well, well...how about this:  12-1  (thanks a lot Jacksonville...lol)

Which brings my two week total to:  19-9....Not too shabby.  If that was an NBA record, ESPN might have me as a favorite to win the Eastern Conference.

So, join me in Week 13, where two games (Jets-Patriots, Ravens-Steelers) already have me ready for some football.

Hey, Cortland Finnegan....You might want to pick on someone your own size.  (Shouts go out to Andre Johnson for whipping this NFL bully's ass)

Just a Bit of Randomness (Maybe)

He is cool.
Real cool.
Skin like midnight. Nappy head.
And notes that scream redemption.
Yes, he's cool.

Maybe Too Awesome for Words (Awesome Repost #4)

(coming by way of Ka'Mone Felix)

This is a poem, performed by Andrea Gibson.  But really, it is so much more.

I keep staring at the screen, watching in awe.  I feel emotion start to creep in and somewhere, in the middle of my watching, my heart just has to scream.

If we refuse to tolerate what we don't understand, the entire human race suffers.

A Poem That's Been On My Mind

This poem was born from words torn out....because sometimes whatever is a hell of a lot easier to say.....

for Marlese

I am the boy that your heart warned you about getting close to
you’re the girl mine told me to never chase after
together, we are inextinguishable fire
but maybe that is our disaster

you see, too often, we just let it burn

I love licking your irrational flames
and you just want to melt into me
but there’s a kindling that is missing
and I learned this long ago
all fires left unattended eventually
go out

and so now, I’m too consumed
and you’re too consumed
to let sparks flicker and fade, so we
torture ourselves trying
like two wet sticks
we rub together the hopes we made
oblivious that the fire keeps dying
because while feelings may not change
the possibility stretches thin
when thoughts of impending miles
make confused hearts start to panic
we run out of words
due to the realistic fear that
if there was anything left to say, we would have already said it
we would have already found a way
out of no way, to make this make some sense
instead of awkward hearts
clutching fragile dreams, or frightened ones running away
from the unseen

and it’s a shame
because you were so beautiful, when I
stretched across your axis
and yet you think forgetting will be easy for me
I’ve just had way too much practice
so I scream, a bit more gracefully
and I regret, a lot less open
take all the time I can to soak in your smile
and all the while, keep hoping
that beneath the heart that flutters
there’s an uncaring colder than late December
that coiled within your tender hands
is an unclaimed spot that I can’t enter
that behind those lovely eyes I stared at often
there exists an iron will
just in case, when it’s all said and done for real
it breaks your heart
to remember

that I am the boy your heart warned you about getting close to

Lucky Number 100 (Well Technically, This is 101)

I was planning on posting this hours ago, but a couple of things came up.  And not the good kind.  But anyway, I'm still happy to say that after 100 posts, we're still doing the damn thing!!!!   I'd like to thank God, the Academy....oh, wait, wrong speech.   But seriously, thank you to anyone and everyone who has taken a fraction of a second to read a single word.  What each one of you means to me is indescribable in words, but know that it is one of those fuzzy, feel good type feelings that makes the soul grin.  To the followers, not only willing to jump from the cliff, but to also wear t-shirts announcing your fall, I thank you.  Without you, 100 might have been 50.  And to the dreamers, who continue to motivate me, this one is for you.  May we dare to chase after those things we want the most, unconcerned with whether or not we reach them, but simply brave enough to run, enjoying the hell out of the hunt.  Much love.
