And They Call These Moments....Happiness
This is I guess a follow up to a post I made a couple days ago.
I was all psyched about going to the iWPS. But there was one thing I kept overlooking. You see, today is my son's birthday. And while he will be blessed with many more birthdays, there will be plenty more iWPS events, and I guess I don't want to begin down the tragic path of placing more importance on other things over him. So, I won't be going to Charlotte this week, and I'm actually not even sad about it. I'm more sad that it took me so long to come to the conclusion that my son's birthday is more important than a poetry slam. I'm new to this whole fatherhood thing, and all the support books in the world can never prepare you for actually going through it. But I love it, and embrace it wholly, because he is a part of me. The best part.
SOOOOOO.....
Happy Birthday to Solace Raphael Robert Jamison.
Today, it's number 2. But I'm hoping that God gives me the direction and wisdom to show you that I'll never make you number 2 to anything in my life. I love you!!!
And if any of you out there have children, make them your top priority. Even if you haven't been there before today, it's never too late to start.
