Been up since like 6 a.m. Today has been awesome, spending time with family, and I really wish it was like this everyday. (I believe if we strive to make it as such, then each day can feel like a special occasion, but that's just me.) So today, I give thanks, as on all others, for my life, my health, my faith, and the family and friends who continue to remind me that I am blessed beyond compare.
And I also give thanks for poetry. You have been with me always. May we do, together, what God has intended. Have a blessed day everyone, and continue to be thankful.

If I Had a Bookie, I Would Be......? (An NFL Recap)
Okay, so earlier this week, I gave my predictions for Week 11 of the NFL.
Right now, all I can say is....good, Brad Childress finally got fired!!! (And I say that only as a Vikings fan ready to see my team move on. No disrespect to Chilly, who will probably be feasting it up this Thanksgiving since he's still entitled to all that extension money until 2013)

And here's how it really went down.
Feature Games:
Oakland at Pittsburgh 3-35
Okay, so I gave Oakland a little too much credit. But I knew they'd lose. And I still don't believe this proves anything about the Steelers.
Cleveland at Jacksonville 20-24
The final of this game SHOULD have been 20-17. But the Browns seem to have a problem with giving up the biggest possible play at the most inopportune moment. MJD is a beast and the Jaguars are extremely lucky.
Houston at NY Jets 27-30
For real? Again? How many times do the J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets have to luck up at the end of the game before people start questioning their AFC prowess. (They're playing a bruised Cincy team on Thanksgiving. The luck may be over.)
Indianapolis at New England 28-31
I remember when Peyton Manning had his team in position to make my predicted score exactly right. And then he had an Eli moment. This young Patriots defense made enough plays to hold on for a victory. Bottom line: You don't mess with Tom Brady's hair.
Green Bay at Minnesota 31-3
I'm not going to mention that my team failed to score a touchdown for the first time all season. I'm not going to mention that this is their worst loss of the season. I'm not even going to mention that this game was so bad it resulted in the head coach finally being fired. When you can't say anything good, it's best to move on....
Seattle at New Orleans 19-34
They're hopeful down in the Big Easy. Why? Because the Saints quietly have one of the best records in the NFC. I hate to say it, but they look to be playoff bound once again.
NY Giants at Philadelphia 17-27
Earlier I said that Peyton Manning had an Eli moment. The younger Manning's 4 turnovers make me expecting a Giant meltdown in the remainder of the season.

Cardinals at Chiefs 13-31
Lions at Cowboys 19-35
Bills at Bengals 49-31

So, based on my predictions vs actual scores, my first official record for the NFL season is: 7-8
But don't count me out just yet. More predictions on in Week 12, beginning with the Thursday games.

Thankful for the Little Things
So, the last couple days, I've been a little down. But this morning brought about a welcomed surprise.
My sister (twin extraordinaire) sent me some cash today. Although it wasn't much, I found myself smiling, and very grateful. It's moments like these when I'm reminded that I am blessed and have much to be thankful for. Plus, it adds to the tab, began circa 1985, of my growing debt to my twin. $4,765,239.62!!! Lmao.
While this is a gross exaggeration, I use it to show her that I'll always be indebted to her, simply because she loves me enough to think of me. One day, I'll pay back dividends with interest.
Appreciate the ones who love you. Stay humble, and thankful.

Things That Make You Go Hmmm....
Hey, Hey, Hey!!! I'll Be the Judge of That!
Ever here the one about the federal judge, the coke-sniffing hooker, and the FBI?
While this sounds like the beginnings of a wickedly funny joke, it's actually the main ingredients of sad but true events. While I was watching the news earlier this week (I try to catch it every morning, but sometimes my crazy sleep habits prevents this), I came across a story that made me think "damn, can people really be that reckless?"
A 67 year old federal judge, Jack Camp Jr., pled guilty to two counts of drug charges on Friday.
The Senior US District Court Judge also admitted to giving a woman money to by drugs, as well as one count of conversion of government property.
Apparently, the naughty judge gave this lady friend a government-issued laptop. The fact that the lady was Sherry Ann Ramos, a 26 year old prostitute is merely icing on corruption's cake.
What type of society do we live in where those supposedly in the authority to interpret and uphold the laws are the ones breaking them? FBI agents arrested Camp on October 1, after he attempted to purchase drugs from an undercover officer. Prosecutors also say that the judge gave Ramos money to buy cocaine, marijuana, and roxicodone, which the two frequently used together.
Camp will be sentenced on March 4.
A statement issued by the former judges' attorneys, which seems a bit idiotic in my opinion, says that Camp has taken responsibility, and will spend the next several months trying to understand the "uncharacteristic nature of his actions."
Let me just say that if it was sooo uncharacteristic, why did it happen multiple times?
Sadly, I'm not surprised. I feel like if we do a clean sweep of the current justice system we'll find far too many figures like Camp in positions of power. And the problem will persist, until someone attempts to change it.
